What is Live Blackjack?
Live casino blackjack games are streamed live in HD from studios and real casinos. When you join a table at our online casino, you’ll see a real dealer who deals real cards from a real card shoe. You’ll also see a virtual betting interface along with a chat window that allows you to interact with the dealer and other players.
The object of online blackjack is to beat the dealer’s hand by getting 21 or as close to 21 as possible without going over. Aces can be worth 1 or 11, while face cards - Jacks, Queens, and Kings - count as 10. All cards between 2 and 10 are scored at face value. Remember that you are playing head-to-head against the dealer, and not the other players at the table.
Our live blackjack games are provided by certified developers like Evolution, Pragmatic Play, and Stakelogic. As such, they are fully audited, constantly monitored, and backed by our Dutch Ksa license.
Online Blackjack Rules
After players place their bets, each player gets two cards, usually face up, while the dealer gets one card face up and one face down. You must then decide how to proceed.
You can “hit” if you’d like another card, or “stand” if you like your hand strength. You can also “double down”, which requires you to double the stake size to receive exactly one more card. This option is best used when you have 9, 10, or 11. If your two starting cards are paired, you can “split” them. This means you end up playing two hands, but you must also stake an additional bet to cover the second hand.
There are a few other rules, like the dealer must hit on any hand totaling 16 or less. Also, if you land a natural blackjack with your first two cards, you win a 3:2 payout. Furthermore, if the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, you can make an “insurance” side bet, which pays 2:1 if the dealer has a natural blackjack.
Be reminded that some exotic variants have slightly different rules. Make sure you understand them before hitting the tables.

Benefits of Live Blackjack at Starcasino
Our live online casino blackjack games feature real dealers and real equipment instead of computer algorithms and RNGs. Because you can see every card dealt in the HD live stream, the results are transparent.
One of the most underrated aspects of live blackjack is the live chat feature, which allows you to interact with the dealer and other players. This provides a social element that RNG games simply can’t offer. And unlike so many other casino games, blackjack rewards smart decisions.
Having access to over 450 live blackjack tables means you can choose from a full range of variants, languages, and stake sizes. These games are available around the clock, 365 days per year.
Popular Live Blackjack Variants
Starcasino offers almost any blackjack variant you can imagine. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular ones and explain what makes them stand out.
Lightning Blackjack
Lightning Blackjack by Evolution Gaming is one of the most unique variants because it features multipliers. As such, each round offers a much larger potential payout. In this version of the game, players place two bets. They are the standard bet and a Lightning Fee, which is a mandatory side bet of equal size. If the hand wins, a random multiplier ranging between 2X and 25X is applied to the payout.
Even better? That multiplier carries over to the next round and is applied if the player wins that round too. This makes consecutive wins much more rewarding. Lightning Blackjack is ideal for players who want a far higher win potential without having to learn new rules. The Lightning Fee is merely a structural change that’s offset by the guaranteed multiplier applied to wins.
Speed Blackjack
If you’re impatient to wait for other players to play out their hands there is a faster form of live casino blackjack available. Speed Blackjack eliminates any long downtime by having all players make their decisions and act simultaneously. This dramatically speeds up the pace, which greatly increases the number of hands you can play in a session.
This variant is well-suited to players who already understand how to play, can make quick decisions, and want to play more hands. We offer several live Speed Blackjack tables with stakes starting at €5.
Free Bet Blackjack
Free Bet Blackjack is unique because it requires the house to stake certain splits and double-down opportunities for you. The house will cover the additional stake required for splits, except for 10s and face cards. If you want to double down on a hard 9, 10, or 11, the house pays that stake too. You only have to shell out for the standard bet.
The key trade-off occurs when the dealer busts with exactly 22. When that happens, all blackjacks are paid as usual, but non-blackjack hands push. If the dealer busts with anything other than 22, players win as per usual. This is how Free Bet Blackjack funds the free bets. This variant is the most attractive option for players who love lots of action without having to risk the extra capital required for splits and doubles.
Dutch Live Blackjack Tables
Our live blackjack section boasts several Dutch-speaking table hosts for fans of live blackjack in the Netherlands. This benefits Dutch players immensely as it allows them to follow the game, make decisions, and communicate in their native language. We even offer Starcasino Dutch ONE Blackjack, which is our exclusive Dutch-language online blackjack live dealer game designed specifically for players in the Netherlands. This is important because it eliminates any potential language barriers while making Dutch players feel right at home.
Online Blackjack Strategy and Tips
In blackjack, your chances of winning are elevated if you follow basic strategy. This requires players to make their decisions based on their hand and the dealer’s face-up card.
If the dealer’s up-card is between 2 and 6, the dealer’s chances of busting are greater. This means the player can stand pat on a weaker hand. Conversely, if the dealer is showing anything between a 7 and an Ace, then the dealer’s hand is likely stronger, which means you should aim for a 17+.
You must use the double down and split options wisely. For instance, you almost always double down on a hard 11. You can double down on a hard 10 if the dealer’s up card is a nine or under. If your hand value equals nine, then you should only double down if the dealer’s up card is between 3 and 6. Avoid doubling soft hands if the dealer’s hand looks strong.
Savvy players only split Aces and 8s. Never split 10s, Jacks, Queens, or Kings. This is because 20 is already an excellent hand with a high chance of winning.
The most important tip is to establish an appropriate session bankroll. It’s a good idea to also set a win limit and a loss limit. Once one of those limits has been reached, have the discipline to walk away.
Please understand that no strategy is guaranteed to win. It’s a game of chance, so always play responsibly.
