At Starcasino, you can bet on the Eredivisie from the big clash between PSV and Ajax to the battle at the bottom of the table. That's why you'll find here how our markets and odds work, and how to place bets safely and legally in the Netherlands. Follow the title race, the relegation battle and the chase for a European spot with us all season long.
To bet on the Eredivisie, you start by picking a match from this week's matchday. Every matchday brings nine fixtures between the eighteen clubs, so there's always an attractive matchup to find. Once you've chosen a match, you select a betting market, which could be the final score, the number of goals, who scores first, or any of the countless other markets within our online sports betting offering.
Each market has its own odds, giving you a sense of what's at stake. If you're happy with them, you enter your stake and confirm your choice, after which you receive a betting slip showing an overview of your selection.
The 2026-27 Eredivisie season runs from August 2026 through to May 2027. The eighteen clubs compete against each other all year round. On top of that, midweek KNVB Cup matches add extra fixtures outside the usual weekend rhythm. You can bet on these with us in a regulated, secure environment, since we hold a licence from the Kansspelautoriteit.
Once you start taking Eredivisie betting seriously, it quickly comes down to the odds. The Eredivisie odds you see with us show what you stand to win from a given stake, while also revealing the probability we assign to an outcome. The lower the odds, the more likely the market considers that outcome to be.
The 2025-26 Eredivisie season worked out at just over three goals per match, averaged across more than three hundred fixtures. That makes it a particularly high-scoring league by European standards, which is exactly why the odds on goal-related markets swing so much from match to match.
And in the days leading up to a match, the odds don't sit still. As more information comes to light, lineups, injuries and suspensions, the numbers keep shifting right up until kick-off.
Odds are updated continuously during the match. A goal, a red card, or a sudden shift in the run of play immediately pushes the numbers one way or the other. If you want to react to what's really happening on the pitch rather than making a choice beforehand, our live betting offers exactly that kind of dynamic.
Betting on the Eredivisie during the match itself brings extra excitement here, since, as you already saw above in the point about odds, our Dutch Eredivisie is a particularly high-scoring, attacking league. That means relatively more back-and-forth in the score, more moments to react to, and so more opportunities to revise your odds than you'd get in a more cautious, low-scoring league.
An odds boost is a temporary increase to the Eredivisie odds on a specific selection, often tied to a big match or a popular outright. The race for top scorer is a good example of this. Reigning top scorer Ayase Ueda (Feyenoord), who bagged 25 goals last season, is facing serious competition this season from challenger Ricardo Pepi (PSV). Ajax's new forwards, Marcos Leonardo and Tolu Arokodare, are also being tipped as outsiders worth keeping an eye on. It's exactly this kind of open, closely followed market that we boost on a regular basis.
Would you rather get stuck into the excitement of a competition against other players? Then take a look at our weekly sports tournament. With your pre-match, live, single, combo and system predictions, you compete for a spot on the podium. Keep in mind that our bonuses and promotions usually come with their own terms, such as minimum odds or stake requirements, so always read them carefully before joining in.
Betting on the Eredivisie champion is an outright bet. You're predicting which club will be lifting the trophy at the end of the season, once all thirty-four matchdays are done. That's a different kind of bet from wagering on a single match, since the outcome isn't settled until the very end of a full season.
If you choose to place Eredivisie bets through our bookmaker, you'll have seen that PSV started out as favourites. The side from Eindhoven claimed their 27th national title last season, their third in a row, and were crowned champions as early as matchday 29, the earliest title in Eredivisie history.
Ajax are seen as clear challengers with us, based on the odds, following a summer in which the squad was significantly strengthened under new coach Míchel. Interestingly, a survey among football analysts actually tipped Ajax as title favourites over PSV, a sign that the betting market and expert opinion don't always line up.
Feyenoord round out the traditional top three under new coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who returns to the club he already led to the title back in 2017.
Anyone serious about Eredivisie betting looks beyond just the name on the shirt. Recent form often says more than a club's reputation. Pay attention to injuries too, as well as how a coach rotates their squad. This matters even more for clubs also playing in Europe midweek, who have to weigh up who to field for the Eredivisie. Looking at home and away form separately pays off as well, since some teams clearly perform differently on their own turf than they do on the road.
Even a club that starts the season as defending champion and clear market favourite can get off to a difficult start. Pre-season status is no guarantee of early results, and any assessment based on that kind of context is really just a dated snapshot. It pays to reassess your view heading into every matchday, rather than sticking rigidly to an impression you formed early in the season.
Betting on the Eredivisie with us means betting on a competition with a rich history and an open, exciting format. Ajax are the record holders with 36 national titles and wear three stars on their shirt. PSV follow with 27 titles to their name and two stars on theirs, and they've been the dominant force in Dutch football this century. Feyenoord, meanwhile, round out the traditional top three with 16 titles and one star.
Since the Eredivisie was founded in 1956, only eight different clubs have ever managed to claim the title, which means a serious title push from outside the established three is well worth following whenever it happens.
The matches themselves also work in our favour. The Eredivisie is known as an attacking, high-scoring league. On top of that, relegation is decided through a genuine play-off system rather than straightforward automatic relegation for every bottom club. The European spots also stay open for longer thanks to several separate qualification paths, rather than one hard top-four cut-off.
The teams finishing 17th and 18th in the Eredivisie are relegated directly to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. 16th place doesn't escape the drop that easily either. It has to go through the play-offs. On the KKD side, the four period champions and the two highest-ranked remaining clubs first play an opening round among themselves, which narrows the field from six clubs down to three. Those three then join 16th place from the Eredivisie in the semi-final, and the two winners from that face off in the final for the last Eredivisie spot. Last season, 16th place got a one-off exception: that club only had to play the final, because of the packed fixture schedule around the 2026 World Cup.
The Eredivisie only produces five European spots this season, one fewer than last season. This is because Portugal overtook the Netherlands on the UEFA coefficient rankings earlier this year. Only 1st place now goes straight into the Champions League league phase, with 2nd place having to come through the third qualifying round. The KNVB Cup winner earns a spot in the Europa League league phase, and 3rd place enters at the Europa League's second qualifying round. The last spot, for the Conference League's second qualifying round, is decided via play-offs among the clubs finishing 4th through 7th. Since the cup and league position together determine who ends up where, it's not enough to look only at the top four when betting on European qualification.
Yes, at Starcasino you can bet on the Eredivisie winner through the championship market. This is an outright bet: it only pays out after all 34 matchdays, not after a single match. The championship odds aren't fixed, and get adjusted throughout the season based on results and form, so check the current odds right before you place your bet.
De Klassieker is the nickname for the match between Ajax and Feyenoord, the biggest rivalry in Dutch football, rooted in the historical tension between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Both clubs play in the two largest stadiums in the Eredivisie, the Johan Cruijff ArenA and De Kuip, which makes De Klassieker one of the best-attended matches of the season. For betting purposes, current form often counts for less here than in an average match. The intensity of the rivalry can turn the normal odds on their head.
